Welcome to a new edition of Rudrank's Dispatch! I hope you are doing well and enjoying the content I have been putting out.

  • I wanted to give you an update about the newsletter.* I have been introspecting and realised I have disconnected feelings about mixing personal stuff with the curated Apple Platforms development-related articles. I want to keep the focus on providing valuable content for you.

  • I decided to stop writing personal content from this edition onwards.* I apologise if that is something you looked forward to reading, but I believe this is the best way to sustain the newsletter long-term and continue providing with the best content possible.

I hope you understand my decision and continue to enjoy the articles and resources I will share every week. As always, I am open to any feedback or suggestions you may have.

Articles for the Week

  1. Claude 3 Haiku: I love Claude 3 Haiku a lot. It is dirt cheap, fast, and accessible. So, I decided to use it at work with streaming data, and wrote an article about it:

  1. visionOS: When I tried the Apple Vision Pro, I found the effect of dimming the surrounding cool, and documented how to go about it, with visuals:

  1. Personal Voice: I knew Apple released this feature, Personal Voice, that uses on-device AI to create a private recreation of your voice. But, I did not know that third-party developers can also use these user-created voices if the user allows it! Here is a detailed post that takes you on a journey of implementing it:

Using your Personal Voice (along with system and novelty voices) in an iOS app

You may be aware of the Personal Voice accessibility feature, but did you know you can use it to make your apps speak?

  1. Building Apps: Creating apps is fun. It is much more fun when it is scratching your itch. I liked reading this experience by Brad on how they build apps and so can you:

  1. Custom SwiftUI: Daniel shows a nifty trick to create a custom SwiftUI LabelStyle that tints just the icon:

How to create a custom label style that only tints the label icon

In this post, we’ll take a look at how easy it is to create a custom SwiftUI LabelStyle that only tints the icon of a Label, while leaving the text element unchanged.
